Mexico Mission Trip Day 4

Mexico Mission Trip Day 4
We asked for a Mission Trip filled with work and we got it today as we took on the task of re-painting the playground equipment at Casa Hogar Emmanuel Orphanage. The girls split up the tasks of cleaning, sanding and painting. The children were there every step of the way, excited to help and watch. They were so excited to get back on the swings they jumped back on them the minute we had finished painting the seat! Oh well, no harm no foul, they walked away with a little paint on their backside but with smiles on their faces. The kids at Casa Hogar have all come from very difficult situations that have developed in them a large array of defense mechanisms. Trust is a difficult thing for most of them. It has been exciting to see how willingly the girls have loved on them. Slowly but surely Christ's love, flowing through the girls has broken down those walls. Pray with us that we can continue to reach them.
The second half of the day was a return to the town of Naco distributing food to poor families. "Necesitas Comidas?" was the phrase we learned quickly as we went door to door splitting up into three groups of seven roaming both sides of the street.......young, old, children, young men and women, wives and husbands were all present as we gained courage in engaging all of them. It has been encouraging to see the girls positive attitude in being a part of the whole process of buying the food, sorting and packaging it and then being involved in the distribution of the food. We have learned a great deal this week in our study of the book Irresistible Revolution and through our experiences here in Mexico that God is certainly present among the poor and needy and that their lives radiate a joy through the most trying of circumstances.
Our final food delivery of the day was to a rehab center in Naco. This visit certainly brought a clear picture of the ravages of addiction. It was an honor to hold hands in a circle and pray for the men and women living there. God has been good on this trip and I thank Him for the players on this team.
